Does the Rear Have Ball Joints?
Usually not. Most rear suspensions — solid axles, torsion beams, simpler multi-link setups — locate the wheel with control arm bushings instead of ball joints, so the rear count is typically 0. Independent rear suspension (IRS), found on some performance and luxury vehicles, is the exception: it can add 2 to 4 more ball joints in the rear, using the same upper/lower logic as the front.
Why Your Manual Might List More "Ball Joints" Than This Article Does
