Mechanically, a ball joint's function is to let one connection point handle two kinds of motion at once: it pivots on multiple axes (like a hip or shoulder joint) so the wheel can turn for steering while simultaneously moving up and down with the suspension — all while staying rigid enough to transfer load. Load-Bearing vs. Follower — Not Every Ball Joint Does the Same Job
